About the Philip Messina Memorial Golf Tournament

The 2nd annual Philip Messina Memorial Golf Tournament, honoring Anthony V. Curto, Esq., supports the neurosurgery program at Huntington Hospital. The Messina family is grateful for the extraordinary care our father received at Huntington Hospital, and we are committed to honor our father and the promise we made to him to “pay it forward.” 

The neurosurgery team is dedicated to advancing patient care through cutting-edge research spanning from discovery science and translation to clinical care. Inspired by our patients, Huntington Hospital clinicians aim to improve patient care through a multifaceted and multidisciplinary approach. Caring for patients who suffer from traumatic brain and spine injury, brain tumor, stroke, concussion, spinal tumors, and more, we rely on philanthropic support to fuel programmatic enhancements. Every innovative step in program and facility enhancements causes improvement in the procedure of diagnosis and treatment and the life expectancy of patients.   

Honoree - Anthony V. Curto

Anthony V. Curto has been an attorney with at Forchelli Deegan Terrana LLP since 1998. His legal work centers on structuring, negotiating, and documenting a variety of complex transactions on behalf of regionally and nationally known clients. Mr. Curto has been associated with many high-profile matters, including the creation of the Bernard M. Baruch Foundation. He has also represented an assortment of celebrities and personalities, including Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn, Harry Chapin, Mike Francesa, Father Tom Hartman, Paula Abdul, Joy Mangano, among others.

A staunch believer in community service, Mr. Curto has received numerous awards for his active role in community endeavors, including the 1984 Congressional Achievement Award and the 1987 Martin Luther King “Living the Dream” Service Award. Mr. Curto was cited as the 37th Most Influential Long Islander by the Long Island Press in 2008. He was a Networking Magazine David Award Honoree in 2008, mentioned in ‘Who’s Who in Corporate Law’ by the Long Island Business News and was a recipient of the Telecare Award of Excellence in 2010. In 2013, Mr. Curto published his book, “A Time for Justice” and in 2016, and has a new book being published in 2021. Mr. Curto also received the Huntington Arts Council Harry Chapin Humanitarian Award. 

Anthony and his wife Linda live in Northport, where he and Phil Messina were frequent golf partners and lifelong friends. Congratulations Anthony on a brilliant career and continued success.
