Support Me

Welcome to the Brain Tumor Companion fundraising page for Lenox Hill Hospital's Department of Neurosurgery. My name is Angel Jones. I am the founder of Brain Tumor Companion, a peer-to-peer support community for patients and caregivers of those diagnosed with a brain tumor/meningioma. As a survivor and a patient advocate at all stages of this diagnosis, my Brain Tumor Companion community and I are joining the fight against brain cancer by partnering with Lenox Hill Neurosurgery's Brain Tumor Center and their groundbreaking research projects for our 2024 fundraising effort.

Did you know that:

  • Brain tumors account for one in every 100 cancers diagnosed annually in the U.S.
  • The 5-year survival rate for people with a cancerous brain tumor in the U.S. is about 36%
  • Treating brain tumors is difficult due to the brain barrier
  • Brain tumors can recur after successful surgery and treatment, and although there is incredible research being done worldwide to try to understand, and cure brain cancer, there is still no cure

These facts are not reassuring and sadly our community experienced the devastation of this disease recently. We said farewell to one of our first members, our dear Companion Maki, a 7+ year Glioblastoma Stage 4 brain cancer survivor. She fought for over seven years waiting for a cure. In her honor, we fight for advancements and higher quality of care for all patients. Lenox Hill Neurosurgery has a long history of doing groundbreaking research that makes a big impact on people's lives. Please consider making a donation today to help us reach our goal of $10,000. Your contribution is directly funding Lenox Hill Neurosurgery's personalized medicine initiative, as described below:

Led by John Boockvar, MD, The Lenox Hill Brain Tumor Center has established an excellent reputation as a national and international leader in the treatment of brain tumors, spinal cord tumors, skull base tumors and metastatic tumors of the brain and spinal cord in adults and children—all using state-of-the-art surgical and nonsurgical techniques such as Gamma Knife.

This exceptional care is consistently recognized, including Lenox Hill Hospital’s ranking on U.S. News & World Report's 2022-23 and 2023-24 Best Hospitals for both neurosurgery and neurology and Newsweek's 2023 and 2024 list of the World's Best Specialized Hospitals for neurosurgery.

In addition to our continuous pursuit of evidence-based medicine, the center emphasizes treatment of the whole patient and the crucial role of family in a patient's care.

Together, we are stronger. Your support today helps us win the fight tomorrow. Thank you in advance, your contribution big or small means so much
